Proposals on labor migration quota discussed
Under the chairmanship of Minister of Labour and Social Protection Anar Aliyev, the next meeting of the “Commission for Preparing Proposals on Setting the Labour Migration Quota and Coordinating Work in This Field” was held.
At the meeting, the Commission members—representatives of the relevant state institutions—reviewed the use of the approved labour migration quota for 2025 and jointly discussed the proposals prepared for the labour migration quota for 2026.
Anar Aliyev highlighted the ongoing development trends in the national labour market as one of the achievements of President Ilham Aliyev’s successful socio-economic policy. It was noted that proposals for next year’s labour migration quota were prepared based on employers’ demand for workers with modern professions and qualifications, the growing diversification of the national economy, analyses regarding the need for skilled labour, as well as labour market forecasts.
The number of qualified personnel entering the labour market increases every year, while targeted measures are being implemented to enhance the skills and competitiveness of the workforce. In this regard, the principle of meeting the labour demands of the national economy through domestic labour resources is prioritised. At the same time, alongside the large-scale construction and development works carried out in the liberated territories, the implementation of new renewable energy projects in recent years increases the demand for highly qualified specialists.
The proposals for the labour migration quota for 2026, as well as proposals concerning the amendments envisaged for the approved 2025 labour migration quota, were discussed. It was decided to submit the mentioned proposals to the Cabinet of Ministers for consideration.
