Four additional types of benefits will be assigned proactively

Under a new Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population will proactively assign four additional types of benefits:

• temporary disability benefit (for the period determined by law);

• maternity benefit;

• childcare benefit for children up to three years of age;

• one-time burial allowance.

Accordingly, as with other social payments granted through the proactive mechanism, there will be no need to apply to any institution or submit documents in order to receive these benefits.

The process of proactively assigning the above-mentioned benefits will begin on 1 May 2026.

The new decision also introduces more humane approaches to the calculation procedures and payment periods of a number of benefits based on compulsory state social insurance.

Overall, as a result of the extensive digitalisation programme implemented in the social sector in recent years, more than 90 per cent of the Ministry’s services are now delivered electronically.
